The case of Carlos Zambrano versus Kerry Woods and Mark Prior

As a non cub fan, i would hope that maybe Jim or someone else could shed some light to this. Everyone knows that Kerry Woods and Mark Prior were killed by their managers. But then, why didn’t Zambrano die? Does this disprove that theory. Here are some numbers:

Kerry Woods age and innings pitched

21-166

23-137

24-174

25-213

26-211

27-140

28-66

29-19

30-24

Mark Prior

21-116

22-211

23-118

24-166

25-43

And then Carlos

20-7 (151 in the minors) total of 158

21-108 (9 in the minors) total of 117

22-214

23-209

24-209

25-223

26-214

Most casual fans will tell you that Woods was destined to die due to his delivery. But why Prior and not Zambrano?

I dont know the answer to this. Perhaps someone does. Is it pure luck?
